Budget your Blackjack playing – keeping up with the odds
Many of us have played blackjack for fun (i.e. amongst friends and not for money) and have not necessarily taken into account the wagering odds that are part and parcel of the game. Blackjack sometimes gets put down as a mere game of chance, but by knowing the conventional odds you can enhance both your game play and your enjoyment.
For example, by having a hand of a natural Blackjack (i.e. 21 in the first two cards dealt to you) your payout will be at a different ratio than if this had happened at some other point in the game. (The payout will come if the dealer has busted over 21). The odds in this example is 3:2, i.e. if you have bet $20, you will earn $30 If we are ahead of the game in terms of knowing what to expect from the payouts, it makes it easier to control your money and your wagers. Know the score when it comes to the gambling odds.
Just be wary, if it comes to hitting or standing. Some people say stand when you reach 16, others always hit. As in everything you have to play the odds. If your hand is closer than the dealers to 21 you earn a 1:1 payout. In addition to the original $20, you’ll get another one. However, if you go bust over 21, you will end up losing your opening wager.
