The Truth About Internet Gambling

December 14th, 2008 by admin

The truth about internet gambling is that it is a whole lot of fun.  Even for people who don’t know much about the internet and aren’t so great with a computer, if you like casino games, poker or bingo (or any combination of the above) then there is no reason why you shouldn’t be a part of the internet gambling community.

When I first got started (nearly 10 years ago) I had no idea what this industry would become!! Then again, I had no idea what the internet would become.  Who would have thought that you can order your movie and pizza online?

Nevermind that though, I want to make it really clear to anyone out that there if you want to consider internet gambling, you should know that there really is “no prior internet experience necessary.”   Pretty much, all you need to know how to do is turn on a computer and send an email.  Not sure how to do either one of those?  Ask you children or any member of your family who was born a generation after you, they’ll be happy to help.

Assuming that you can do those things now, all you need to do is read.  If you’re still with me, then we’re on the right track!  Get the picture? It’s EASY! Plus, internet gambling is more than just something to do online, it’s an entire community.  There are millions of websites dedicated to the subjects surrounding online casinos, poker rooms and bingo halls.  There are chat forums for people who are sharing bonuses, and there internet gambling news sites that follow all the big tournaments and pick out gambling related news for the rest of us!  There are also publications available offline (magazines and books) that all cater to the lifestyle of the online casino player.

So, if you’re not a part of the fun and you want to be, what are you waiting for!?

The coolest backgammon checkers I every played with were from 15th century Morocco. Now, I know what you’re thinking. To get a hold of backgammon checkers like that I most have paid a pretty penny. The truth is, though, I paid nothing and played them online. Internet backgammon has really taken off and one of the things casinos have begun to do is offer virtual boards based on real backgammon boards used centuries ago. It’s a really neat concept and one that online backgammon players are really beginning to embrace. Now, I don’t think playing ancient backgammon checkers is going to take the place of anyone playing modern, competitive backgammon, but it sure does provide a great way to take a break from competitive play and to have fun and learn something new about ancient boards. And if you’re not into ancient you can also find computerized, interactive boards. I saw one that was based off of a sea ship fight where the backgammon checkers were boats and attacked one another; it was pretty neat. If you haven’t checked out an internet casino that offers this, you should do an internet search and find one, it’s definitely worth taking a look at. I find, too, that playing these boards allows you to lighten up and sometimes doing that allows you to notice things you hadn’t before; like strategies that work or ways to move your backgammon checkers. Who knows, maybe having some fun will lead to a stronger backgammon game and bigger profits in the long run.

They say slow and steady always wins the race.  I don’t know if that’s true, but it’s definitely treated me well as a favorite backgammon strategy.  A lot of players today are about the running game, that’s why I slow it down and play a priming game.  If you’re not familiar with the term priming game, it’s just a way of saying I like to work to block off points from my opponent and pick off their checkers when they get spread out.  A dream of any priming game is to build something akin to the Great Wall of China separating your opponent from their home board.

A priming game is certainly not the most glamorous backgammon strategy.  People want to get the big dice rolls and run the board to feel invincible.  But, I think slowing the game down is the most effective way to consistently win in backgammon.  I think this because when you think about it, you’re starting from your opponent’s home board, so you already have the checkers in place to stop a final advancement.  If you can get a few nice rolls of the dice early and your opponent throws low, it’s simple to move into positions that block your opponent off.  Just wait for them to get nervous and make a run to stop you, and that’s when you start hitting their checkers and frustration them to no end.

Backgammon is a great game of strategy which is why I love playing it so much.  But on a game to game basis, I think a slow moving backgammon strategy is the best way to consistently win.

Casino Gambling Without the Travel

When people think of casinos, the natural place that pops into everyone’s head is the bright lights of Vegas.   I don’t blame them; I love Vegas as much as anybody else.  But the truth is, most of us don’t live anywhere near there but all of us want to enjoy casino gambling.  There is always the once or twice a year trip, but that’s not going to hold me over.

So, when I start hearing talk about casinos, I make sure to bring up online casinos.  Internet gambling has become hugely popular lately, but there are still plenty of people that haven’t logged on.  It’s amazing though because the experience you get with casino gambling online is so real and offers such a great alternative to traveling to a land casino.

For one, the graphics are awesome.  You can really lose yourself and forget your sitting at home with online casino graphics.  Also, you’ll find every game offered at a real casino plus more.  Because there’s no space restraints, casino gambling online can offer you more ways to have fun and make money.  Also, you’ll find thousands of people from all over the world playing online casinos at any time of the day.  Online gamblers are known to be outgoing and helpful, so it’s nice to not only have fun but pick up some nice conversation along the way.

Now, I’m all for continuing my trips to Vegas.  But, in the meantime, when it comes to having fun and making money each week, casino gambling online is the way to go.

Budget your Blackjack playing – keeping up with the odds

September 7th, 2008 by admin

Many of us have played Blackjack for fun (i.e. amongst friends and not for money) and have not necessarily taken into account the wagering odds that are part and parcel of the game.  Blackjack sometimes gets put down as a mere game of chance, but by knowing the conventional odds you can enhance both your game play and your enjoyment.

For example, by having a hand of a natural Blackjack (i.e. 21 in the first two cards dealt to you) your payout will be at a different ratio than if this had happened at some other point in the game.  (The payout will come if the dealer has busted over 21).  The odds in this example is 3:2, i.e. if you have bet $20, you will earn $30  If we are ahead of the game in terms of knowing what to expect from the payouts, it makes it easier to control your money and your wagers.  Know the score when it comes to the gambling odds.

Just be wary, if it comes to hitting or standing.  Some people say stand when you reach 16, others always hit.  As in everything you have to play the odds.  If your hand is closer than the dealers to 21 you earn a 1:1 payout.  In addition to the original $20, you’ll get another one.  However, if you go bust over 21, you will end up losing your opening wager.

The Problem with Free Casino Games (and how to solve it)

September 2nd, 2008 by admin

Now, don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of advantages to free casino games. Obviously, they don’t cost a dime. There is no membership fee, no real money invested, and many sites even allow players unlimited games. That’s a pretty good deal.

For serious players like us, however, one thing about free casino games can disturb this otherwise pleasant scenario. You guessed it: the frustrating and mind-numbingly annoying players. Those who let the time clock wind down to the last second before making their move (turtles). Those who go All-In at the start of every Texas Hold’Em game no matter what their pocket cards are. Those who quit in the middle of a game leaving robotic computer doppelgangers in their places.

As fans of free casino games, we’re forced to deal with the immature antics of flighty players. However, there is a light at the end of this tunnel, a way to get past all of the clowning into serious, challenging games. To get there, join an online casino that rates your free casino games. Rating systems give you points for winning and losing every time you play. You’ll be joined at your table by players with ratings similar to yours to make the competition even. As you continue to improve and win, your rating increases and so does the level of your competition. As you reach these higher levels, you can kiss those annoying amateur players goodbye.

Decorative Backgammon Table

August 10th, 2008 by admin

There are regular backgammon board games, travel backgammon games and online backgammon games. However, did you know that there are also is a backgammon table that is a nice addition to any home or game room?

The backgammon table is an exact replica of the original backgammon board game. It comes in a variety of colors such as black and white or blue and white. The table is set up with twenty-four points on which two players can place thirty playing discs. The backgammon table usually comes with two chairs that make sitting at the backgammon table comfortable.

There are also backgammon tables that come with other games such as checkers, chess, or a poker top. These types of tables have interchangeable table tops so the player can choose which game they would like to play.

The table ranges in price and most of the time it depends on the features of the piece of furniture. Some tables have built in drink holders, folding capabilities, multi-gaming capabilities, and more. Many backgammon tables are made of fine wood and have very fine decorations carved into the wood.

A backgammon table makes a perfect gift for anyone who loves to play backgammon or it can also make a very beautiful, elegant and unique addition to any room décor or furniture collection. Many backgammon tables are made of solid woods such as oak or pine that make beautiful additions to any home. If you are a serious backgammon player who plays the game of a frequent basis, you may want to add a beautiful backgammon table to make your game more enjoyable and more comfortable.
